To Study Weber County Form of Government
WEBER COUNTY FORWARD is a bipartisan group of citizens who began a petition to study our county form of government and possibly change to a new form.
Why Are We Doing This? We think it is time to study our options for how county government is organized. Signing this petition means you want the question of whether or not to study our options to go on the June ballot.
Weber County Forward/About Us-It's been over 20 years since we looked at whether our form of county government is best for Weber County residents. This petition is sponsored by Weber County Forward, a bipartisan organization formed specifically to bring the question of whether or not to study our county government options to the voters in June 2018.
What Does Signing This Petition Do? We think it is time to study our options for how county government is organized. Signing this petition means you want the question of whether or not to study our options to go on the June ballot. If voters approve the ballot initiative, it will trigger a study process. The study will be a year-long process of public meetings and study will occur to determine which form would be best for the future for Weber County residents.
Things to Consider About Our Current Form: Our current form of county government is considered to be efficient, because it combines the legislative and executive powers into three County Commissioners, but there are trade-offs:
· Other forms have more checks and balances by separating the legislative and executive powers
· Some say other forms make residents feel better represented by increasing the number of elected representatives
· Others feel our current form lacks continuity in leadership and management with three executives
· These and many other viewpoints will be carefully considered if voters approve the study
